Siddhartha Jatla: I Dreamed to Visit Russia since my Childhood. I am Happy to be here

On September 7, Love and Shukla was screened within the framework of the parallel program of the 14th Kazan Muslim Film Festival. The director of the film, Siddhartha Jatla, had a questions and answers session after the screening. The spectators asked number of questions on the film and India as well as thanked the director for his excellent work.

Love And Shukla premiered in 2017 has already participated in 35 festivals in 20 countries. Siddhartha Jatla was the director, cameraman and screenwriter of the film. The film shows the life of an ordinary Indian family and their problems caused by poverty. However, poverty is not the focus of the film, which tells the story of a rickshaw driver Shukla, who tries to maintain his relationships with his family and young wife. 'In Mumbai, more than half of the population have the living conditions as the family of Shukla: the whole family lives in one room’, explained the director.

The spectators thanked the director for the appeal reflected in the film that calls for the importance of spiritual values 'India is a developing, but still a happy country. You can witness this through the film’, said Siddartha Jatla.

When the Director talked about life in India, about himself and his work, he shared with the audience a cherished desire, which has already been fulfilled: ' I dreamed to visit Russia since my childhood. I am happy to be here in Tatarstan’.
