Submission for the XX Kazan Film Festival Starts

On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024.

The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

The Selection committee is formed by: Timur Shaikhullin, the Doctor of Philology, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Philology and Country studies of the Russian Islamic Institute; Svetlana Slapke, Doctor of Philosophy and Arts, film critic, the author of articles and publications about culture and cinema of Central Asia and Türkiye, CEO of “Eurasia Global Connecting Agency” and Rushan Abbyasov deputy chairman and head of staff of Muftis Council of Russia, chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Moscow region.

The Selection Committee is headed by Nina Kochelyaeva, the historian, cultural scientist, Director of the New Institute of Cultural Studies, researcher of VGIK, and doctoral candidate of the Laboratory of practice and technologies of intercultural dialogue modelling in the Russian Federation of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.

The official selection will be presented by feature and short films, and documentaries. More than that, the “National competition” nomination is established by the festival.

The program may also include Russian and foreign films reflecting universal spiritual and moral values and cultural traditions, conveying the ideas of peacemaking, tolerance, and humanism.

The XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will be held on September 6–11, 2024.

It is worthy to note that KIMFF 2024 is included in the list of cinematography projects supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is held under the support of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and the Ministry of Culture of Russia, as well as in partnership with Strategic Vision Group “Russia-Islamic World”.
