Kazan film festival - winner of RUSSIAN EVENT AWARDS 2018

On September 26-27, the Russian Event Awards final for Volga and Ural Federal Districts was held in Cheboksary. Over 160 projects from 16 regions of Russia (Republic of Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Samara Oblast, Ulyanovsk Oblast, Saratov Oblast, Kirov Oblast, the Chuvash Republic, Republic of Bashkortostan, the Mari El Republic, the Udmurt Republic, Orenburg Oblast, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Tyumen Oblast, Perm Krai and Khanty-Masi Autonomous Okrug) participated in the competition.
 
Kazan Muslim Film Festival received the award for the Best Ethnic and Cultural Tourism Event and will participate in the Russian Final of the competition, which will be held from 24 to 27 October 2018 in Nizhny Novgorod.
 
The festival was presented by its executive director, the director of Tatarkino, Milyausha Aytuganova, who shared her vision on the history and concept of the festival: ‘Russian experts often consider our project as a festival of ethnic films, whereas international experts perceive the festival as a forum for humanistic cinema arts. The festival brings together various countries and regions giving an opportunity to experience various cultures via films’.
 
The 14th edition of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival was held in September 2018 with the participation of actors, directors, producers from Russia, CIS countries, Europe, Asia and the USA. Over 200 films from over 50 countries were screened during the festival.

Since 2005, Kazan Muslim Film Festival is one of the largest film forums in Russia held annually in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The concept of the festival is reflected through its official motto ‘Through the dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue’. The Russian and international films selected for the festival are representing the ideas of peacebuilding, tolerance and intercultural dialogue. The festival aims to provide an experience exchange platform for filmmakers from Russia and CIS countries; to presents the achievements of filmmakers working towards communication of humanistic, moral and cultural values; to create a realistic image of Islam and Muslims in Russian and international communities.
