Cotton

Uzbekistan, 2015. In a secluded village, Gulchehra spends her days combing cotton – a monotonous, exhausting task that barely sustains her and her ailing mother-in-law. Her husband has gone abroad in search of work, and she still clings to the illusion that he will return. When her mother-in-law dies, Gulchehra is left completely alone – a woman without protection in a world governed by gossip, cruelty, and moral hypocrisy.
