Love and Shukla: on the path to the culture of dialogue

11 August 2018

The Kazan International Muslim Film Festival continues its series of special press screenings prior to the upcoming 14th edition of the festival to be held in Kazan in September. The press screenings are aimed to present to the members of media the films participating in the competition and out-of-competition of the 2018 festival.

On August 7, the press screening of Love and Shukla (director Siddhartha Jatla, India) was held in Mir cinema. The film is included to the special screenings programme of the upcoming festival and it is the first full-length work of Siddhartha Jatla.
It shows the life of an ordinary Indian family and their problems caused by poverty. However, poverty is not the focus of the film, which tells the story of a rickshaw driver Shukla, who tries to maintain his relationships with his family and young wife.

To achieve this, they will go through the path of the culture of dialogue. It is necessary to highlight that there was only one professional actor involved in the film, for others, it was their first acting experience.

Press screenings of the 14th Kazan Muslim Film Festival are held every Tuesday at 16:30. The next press screening is devoted to a film based on the works of Chingiz Aitmatov, a Soviet, Kyrgyz and Tatar writer.
