On July 1, the call for applications for the 5th International Pitching of Film Projects, which will be held within the XX Kazan International Film Festival “Altyn Minbar” started. Those willing to compete for the main prize of 500 thousand rubles must submit their application before August 12 (until 23:59 Moscow time, inclusive).
Pitching is a public presentation and defense of film projects (scripts or scenario applications—synopses) before an international expert council. The first pitching within the Kazan Film Festival was held in 2019. Applications and scripts in English and Russian in the category “Feature films”—synopses and scripts of feature films—are accepted for participation in the pitching. One of the conditions of participation is that the project should be obligatory in co-production with the Republic of Tatarstan.
The main task of international pitching is to stimulate the development of joint film production with the Republic of Tatarstan in the regions of Russia, including the participation of foreign countries, the discovery of new names in the cinematic world, the presentation of new projects, the search for fresh ideas for the development of cinema, and the introduction of filmmakers to producers, directors, and other persons interested in joint film projects. The expert council is annually formed by cinema figures from the Russian Federation, CIS, and foreign countries.
Participation in pitching is free; for this, you need to fill out an entry form on the website, https://kazan-mfmk.com/pitch/. Each application should include one project. Applications will be accepted until August 12, after which a shortlist containing no less than 10 projects will be published. The public defense of the projects within the pitching will be held during the film festival at the Kazan State Institute of Culture. At the project defense, both personal presence and online participation are accepted.
The winner of the pitching competition will be awarded a prize of 500 thousand rubles. The prize can be the production of projects, support in the implementation at different stages from leading Russian and foreign cinematographers, free provision, or discounts on various types of services in the field of film production.
