The 14th Kazan Film Festival Sets a New Record: 967 Entries from 54 Countries

27 June 2018

Film submissions for the 14th Kazan Muslim Film Festival are now closed. The number of entries received exceeds 967 hitting the previous year record.

The festival organising committee received entries from all over the world, including European, Asian, American and African countries. About 30 full length and short feature, documentary and animated films were submitted by the filmmakers of the Republic of Tatarstan, the region hosting the festival.
The shortlisted films will be announced by the Selection Committee headed by a Russian film critic Sergei Lavrentyev next week.

The 14th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival will be held from 4 to 10 September 2018 with the support of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and in partnership with the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.

In 2018, the festival will change its usual locations in Kazan: although the opening ceremony will be traditionally hosted by Pyramida Complex, its closing ceremony will be held at Hermitage Concert Hall. The screenings of competition and out-of-competition programmes as well as the festival’s side events will be held at Grand Cinema 3D Port at Riviera Complex, whereas Mir Cinema will showcase the festival’s parallel programmes.

The first forum of the directors of international film festivals will be held within the framework of the 14th edition of the festival. The forum will provide a networking and discussion ground for film industry leaders from Italy, the UK, Switzerland, Egypt, Turkey, Croatia and Nigeria.
