The sequel of The Teacher by Alexey Petrukhin, The Last Trial, was screened at the 15th Kazan Muslim Film Festival. The film was presented by Alexey Petrukhin, the director of the film, a Russian film director, actor, screenwriter and producer, and Oleg Taktarov, a Russian and American actor and a sportsman.

According to Aleksey Petrukhin, The Last Test will be released in Russia in late August 2019. This is the second part of the trilogy. Its first part was The Teacher, a drama, which story takes place in one of the Russian schools, released in 2015. The Teacher has received a number of awards from Russian film festivals.

In the first part, The Teacher, the main character of the story, played by Irina Kupchenko, takes the 11A class to hostage for delivering them a moral lesson. In the second part, the hostage is taking place at the theatre during the premiere of the Romeo and Juliet play as a real terrorist act. The play is attended by former pupils of 11A and the lives of the people would depend on their actions.

In spite of dramatic differences in the plots, both films are united not only by similar cast, but also with their focus on the current issues raised by the films, as terrorism and conflicts.
