Kazan Film Festival Became a Partner of the International Oriental Oriental Film Festival of Geneva

Today, a cooperation agreement between the Kazan Muslim Film Festival and the International Oriental Oriental Film Festival of Geneva was signed in Kazan. The executive director of the 14th edition of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival, the director of Tatarkino Milyausha Aytuganova and the director of the International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva FIFOG Tahar Houchi participated in the signing ceremony.

Before signing the document, Tahar Houchi spoke about the 13-year history of the Geneva festival: ‘We have never been so close to each other in terms of distance, but at the same time so far... The language of cinema arts is common for everyone. We do not need anything else to achieve mutual understanding between various cultures’, highlighted Tahar Houchi.

The cooperation between the festivals will include joint events and screenings and special programmes, workshops and meetings held in Kazan and Geneva.

‘I am glad that some places in the world could enhance the traditions of different cultures. I understand the identity of the Tatars. Perhaps, the Algerians could be called as North Africa Tatars. The majority of us Muslims, but we are not Arabs: we have our own mentality and our own language. Kazan has its own place in my heart and I hope to bring a part of Algeria to Tatarstan and Sought Tatarstan Now in my heart there is a particle of Kazan, and I will bring the values of Tatarstan to Algeria and Switzerland’, commented Tahar Houchi.

Supporting the intention of Tahar Houchi, Milyausha Aituganova presented the guest of the festival an art work reflecting the Kazan Kremlin, the core cultural heritage site of Tatarstan.
