Diary of the 14th Kazan Muslim Film Festival: 4.09.18

On September, 4 the 14th Kazan International Muslim Film Festival has started its work.

The film screenings of the festival were launched at 10.00 at Almaz Cinema Port in Riviera Complex. Screenings of films of competitive and non-competitive programs will be held simultaneously in its three halls until September, 10. Entrance to all screenings is free. The Kazan Kremlin hosted the opening of the International Film Festival Directors Forum. The meeting was attended by the members of film industries of Russia, Switzerland, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia and Kazakhstan.

The Days of Japanese cinema has started at Mir Cinema within the framework of the cross year of Japan and Russia 2018. Other parallel programme of the 14th edition of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival, Retrospective of film adaptations of works by Chingiz Aitmatov was launched at Almaz Cinema Port. The programme was opened by Assol Moldokmatova, a famous Kyrgyz TV presenter and actress.

Also, the meeting with a Russian actress Irina Alferova also took place at the festival.

The key event of the day was the opening ceremony held in Pyramid Complex. The ceremony traditionally began with red carpet attended by participants, jury members and honoured guests of the festival. The chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin, the State Adviser of the Republic of Tatarstan, UNESCO Special Envoy for Intercultural Dialogue Mintimer Shaimiev, former Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova, members of the jury headed by a Soviet actress Maya-Gozel Aimedova addressed the participants of the festival during the ceremony. The symbolic start of the festival was given by the President of the Kazan Muslim Film Festival, the Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia and Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation, mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.
